The Mime
The Mime is a story I conjured up in my mind in 2012
Love, that dizzy feeling you get when with someone that muses your imagination is what sparked the idea
I vividly remember the moment and the person I was with, who I am still with today
What was just a story I told eventually evolved throughout the years
As I focused on Esperanza and other writing projects The Mime was always on my mind, I would periodically revisit and write throughout the years
Like Michelangelo staring at the block of marble for months that would eventually be carved into the statue of David I was staring at a blank page for months, imagining who the mime was, Florina and how the story would unfold
The key plot point was there, someone stole the mime’s voice and Florina was going to help him get it back
The Mime is a story about a young girl, Florina who helps the mime find his voice that was stolen from an evil magician
It is a story about not only finding your own voice but discovering the natural talents you have hidden deep within and not being afraid to use your hidden gifts and chase your dreams
Oaxaca, Mexico is the cornerstone of this fantasy tale that is torn a part by magic. A journal left behind for Florina becomes a window to her past and the door that binds together the real world and the alternate world the magician created and rules
Love, vengeance, and desire are the driving forces for Florina, the mime, the muse, the magician, the artists and all who try to discover their own voice
The idea of The Mime was the seed that I watered, nurtured and grew into what is now a completed book
Post-production of publishing a book isn’t easy nor fun, but feels good. The Mime is done. I can’t wait to publish and share this to the world
